Bird-in-Eye Surgery
Chris Meikle is the trainer Bird-in-Eye Surgery which occupies the corner of Uckfield Community Hospital which was opened in 1994. Its position facilitates easy contact with other members of the primary care team, and other health professionals including visiting consultant's. The practice has about 7200 patients in the small but busy town of Uckfield and the surrounding countryside and villages. There are the equivalent of four full-time GP's working at the surgery incorporating three full-time partners.

The practice population is younger than average with a large number of children. The practice covers its own patients in GP beds in the community hospital (including terminal care,) and minor injuries which is staffed by well-trained nurses.
The practice these well-organised with well-developed IT systems and an intranet. The GPS have a wide variety of skills and interests.
The registrar has their own room and IT access and a practice library is well stocked and up-to-date.
